Honeoye Central board approves bid awards for 2024 capital improvement project

The Honeoye Central School District approved bid awards for its 2024 capital improvement project at a board meeting, after staff reported that re-bid contracts came in within budget and that a healthy contingency remains.

A district staff member told the board that several contracts approved at prior meetings were within budget and that the remaining contracts returned from re-bid are also in budget. "We have a healthy contingency," the staff member said, adding that the district had received a draft notice of proceeds from the architect and expected a pre-construction meeting within a week.

The staff member said the general contractor, Iverson, will provide a sequencing schedule once the district and contractor finalize contracts. The staff member emphasized procurement timing and submittals as critical: "If things aren't ordered, they're not coming," they said, urging early submittal approval and ordering to avoid schedule delays caused by long lead times for items such as mechanical equipment and doors.

Board member Bill, whose role was not specified in the transcript, said the contracts were "either finalized or just waiting for the final review" after attorney review and noted that the mechanical contractor already has submittals in. He added that the district will hold bi-weekly construction meetings beginning with the pre-construction meeting and that minutes will be kept for those meetings.

During the meeting the Chair asked for and received a motion to approve the bid award for the Honeoye Central School District 2024 capital improvement project recommendations; a motion and a second were made and the Chair announced the motion carried. The board then moved, seconded and carried a motion to adjourn.

Next steps identified in the meeting were finalizing contracts and insurance paperwork, holding the pre-construction meeting, and receiving the GC's schedule so submittals can be released and long-lead items ordered.
