Planning staff told the board the Historic Preservation Master Plan has been adopted and described it as a focused, practical plan to strengthen preservation work.
"It was a bit of a passion project," staff said, adding that the plan functions as a “get-right” master plan for the historic-district commission and includes roughly 30–40 action items addressing maintenance enforcement and certificates of appropriateness. Staff said the plan also recommends working with the planning board when the Birmingham Plan 2040 is revisited, particularly on character provisions.
Board members asked only clarifying questions and staff noted the consultant working on the zoning ordinance has already been given plan materials so the two efforts can align where appropriate. No formal vote was required at the meeting.
