City manager: survey shows Rohnert Park residents prioritize 911 response, parks and drinking water

City Manager Marcela Pedra presented highlights from a community survey at the Feb. 24 meeting, saying the survey — issued in fall 2025 and still open on the city website — confirms residents’ priorities around public safety, parks and water quality.
Pedra summarized top service priorities reported by respondents: ensuring 911 emergency response services, protecting local drinking-water sources, maintaining fire protection services, keeping parks and public areas clean and safe, and continuing disaster-preparedness efforts. She emphasized that these priorities inform the city’s budget-development work and the need to maintain staffing levels and financial resources to support core services.
Pedra also noted the city’s integrated public-safety model, in which public-safety officers are cross-trained in both police and fire duties — a model she said Rohnert Park shares with only one other California city. She reiterated the importance of maintaining existing parks and infrastructure rather than expanding the inventory when staffing and budget constraints exist.
Pedra said the survey had received more than 400 responses so far and encouraged wider participation to inform the 2026 budget. She opened the presentation for council questions at the end of her briefing.
