Public Utilities honors Leroy Laba as April 2026 employee of the month

The Santa Fe Public Utilities Department recognized Leroy Laba as its employee of the month for April 2026 during the Public Works and Utilities Committee meeting on May 4.
Presenter Efren Morales described Laba’s work as often behind the scenes and said Laba "exemplifies what public service is all about: commitment, integrity, and genuine dedication." Morales told the committee Laba has 23 years with the city, including 11 years in the wastewater division, holds a Level 2 wastewater certification from the state of New Mexico, has trained new apprentices and has raised safety concerns to supervisors when hazards were present. The department granted Laba one day of administrative leave in recognition of his service.
The committee briefly thanked Laba for his service; no further personnel actions were taken during the meeting.
