Beaver County approves roughly $124,000 in travel-council TRT grants to support 2026 events

Beaver County commissioners approved travel-council recommendations May 5 to allocate Transient Room Tax (TRT)–eligible grant funds to events scheduled for 2026, totaling about $124,000 in awards.
Travel-council staff summarized the statutory requirements that TRT funds be tied to events that generate additional room-tax revenue and described application and reporting standards. The council’s recommendations covered events large and small; applicants might not receive full requested amounts but, per staff, every applicant who applied received at least some funding.
Commissioners discussed prior-year administration issues: the July 4 rodeo was granted $3,000 last year but had not submitted an invoice and therefore did not receive the funds until this year. Travel-council rules require an invoice and this year’s awards include a stipulation that recipients file invoices and return to a travel-council meeting one to two months after their event to report results.
Travel-council staff noted some events expect substantial attendance (one motorcycle enduro project estimated 1,000–1,500 spectators plus hundreds of racers), and commissioners discussed improving county outreach to local businesses ahead of large events.
A commissioner moved to approve the travel-council requests and the motion passed by voice vote. Staff said funds will be disbursed on receipt of invoices and subject to the council’s reporting requirements.
