Vicksburg board approves $71,500 van purchase for small‑group transportation

Goss said the vans are more fuel‑efficient than buses and allow staff or volunteers (non‑CDL drivers) to transport small teams and equipment.
The board motion to purchase a van from Hookster Transportation for $71,500 using District Transportation funds was moved and seconded. The motion carried; the transcript records one board member saying they opposed the motion during the voice vote.
Goss said the district plans to use transportation fund line items and the general fund as appropriate and emphasized the operational need given high demand for existing vans. He noted the district’s current vans (model year 2017) remain serviceable but are heavily used.
Next steps: staff will finalize the vendor order and bring any procurement documentation to the district finance office; vehicle delivery and assignment will be scheduled by Transportation.
