Council issues several proclamations naming May as Affordable Housing, Jewish Heritage and Bike months and recognizing tourism week

The council also proclaimed May 2026 as Jewish American Heritage Month; representatives of Congregation Sheer Shalom and students expressed appreciation during a brief reception. Council members read a proclamation for National Travel and Tourism Week and a proclamation declaring May as Bike Month with May 14 as Bike-to-Work Day. Eris Weaver, executive director of the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, outlined bike-month events including a bike movie night on May 20 and a PedalFest festival on May 31.
The proclamations were ceremonial and informational; council members used the items to highlight partnerships with nonprofit organizations, tourism partners and community volunteers. Staff provided event dates and sign-up information for volunteers and public input deadlines for ongoing projects.
