Acting Chief Robinson described the practical effects of prior upgrades and explained the feature set staff expects from the proposed change, including supervisor access to live camera feeds and a real-time translation capability: "So it's a trans an actual translator, and it translate in real time right then and there," he said, describing the feature that would allow on-scene language translation.
Several council members requested the invoice and the contract be attached to the resolution before any final action. Council did not vote on the resolution during the work session; staff indicated they will supply the invoice and contract and bring the item forward for later action.
What happens next: staff will attach the invoice and contract to the resolution for council review and bring the item back at a formal meeting; grant reimbursement must be submitted before the PAC grant expiration date (06/30/2026) as written in the resolution.
