Board recognizes teachers, staff and students; announces spring events

Worcester County Public Schools recognized outstanding staff and students during the board meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Wallace congratulated the school‑level teachers of the year and named Miss Kirstston Conway of Snow Hill High School as the 2026 Worcester County Teacher of the Year. The Legacy Award was presented to Elizabeth Atwood of Cedar Chapel Special School ahead of her retirement. The board also presented "Heartbeat of Worcester" and several student "Surge" awards honoring perseverance, leadership, service and improvement across schools.
Board members read proclamations for School Social Workers Month and Arts in Our Schools Month, both signed by President Todd Ferrante and Superintendent Dr. Annette Wallace. Students representing multiple high schools reported on recent academic, arts, and athletic accomplishments and upcoming events.
Dr. Wallace announced district calendar items: the media expo at Snow Hill High School on March 19, an early dismissal on April 1, a professional day on April 2, spring break April 3–6, the fine arts festival on April 17 and the next board meeting on April 21.
