Lafourche Parish School Board recognizes students and staff at April meeting

The Lafourche Parish School Board opened its April 1 regular meeting by recognizing staff and students for state- and national-level achievements.
"It is always a pleasure to be able to recognize the staff and students in our district who are doing exceptional things at the state level and at the national level," said Miss Bolton as she introduced awards that included athletics, academics, pottery and show choir.
Board members called forward honorees for photos and certificates. The board recognized Janice Coleman of C.M. Washington as the 2025 Public Citizen of the Year for the Louisiana chapter of the National Association of Social Workers; Miss Lisa Budro and Dr. Rodriguez announced the award and other honors. Students named to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association All-Academic Composite Team and individual winners in pottery and indoor track were also recognized.
The Tibido Middle School boys basketball team, coached by Jeremiah Gray with assistants Tony Thompson and DeAndre Williams and athletic director Joseph Riley, was honored as the 2026 middle school state champion in its division. The board invited the team to the front for a group photo and brief congratulations.
Board members said photos and a full list of honorees would be posted after the meeting. With awards concluded, the board moved on to its regular business items.
