Board member warns 2371 bypass route could take family farms, disrupt busing and reduce tax revenue

"You will face disruptions to busing... we will see family farms and family homes taken away," the member said, adding the loss of residential and agricultural property would reduce local property-tax revenue.
The board member also said the Cardington board has gone on record opposing the proposed route and noted Buckeye Valley previously passed a resolution (November 2025) supporting a plan to fix Route 23. No formal board action on the bypass was taken at the meeting; the comment was provided as a board update and advisement to the community.
Board members said county officials are calculating tax impacts and that the district treasurer will be contacted with more detailed numbers as they become available.
