Board approves MOU with Blue River Career Program, adds kindergarten to Jump Start and OKs overnight trips and donations

The Shelbyville board approved a memorandum allowing the Blue River Career Program to use Shelbyville High as an evacuation site, added incoming kindergarten students to the summer Jump Start program, approved multiple overnight student trips including an added HOSA conference trip, and accepted several community donations.
The Shelbyville Central Schools board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Blue River Career Program on March 23 that allows BRCP to use Shelbyville High School facilities as an evacuation site in emergencies.
"Basically what this says is that we use Shelbyville High School as a site if they needed a place for evacuation for emergency reasons," the Board President said when presenting the agreement, which the BRCP board had already approved.
The board also approved several student overnight trips as presented, including an SMS trip to the Smoky Mountains (Oct. 16–18), the high school softball tournament in Evansville (April 10–11), a girls basketball team camp at Purdue (June 26–28), a cross‑country team camp (July 7–10) and an added HOSA overnight trip to Indianapolis (April 15–17). The board voted to expand the Jump Start summer program to include incoming kindergarten students, adding them to previously approved first‑ and second‑grade participation.
Board members accepted multiple community donations listed in the packet, including a $1,000 gift for high school needs, $168.50 for a district breakfast item, $54.90 for an elementary reading prize, donated pizzas for a tutoring celebration and a $100 gift for middle school FCA from James and Jan Meyer. The board thanked donors and volunteers for their community support.
No board member opposed the motions and all items were approved by voice vote.
