Westlake to replace Gateway with PowerSchool registration; multilingual rollout and automated alerts planned

Monica Verick, the district registrar, described plans to replace the unsupported Gateway registration system with PowerSchool Registration, integrated with the district's PowerSchool student‑information system.
Verick said the PowerSchool platform will support Arabic and Spanish interfaces, allow parents to upload photos and fillable PDFs (medical questionnaires, affidavits), and automatically notify staff (nurses, special‑education) when key information is submitted. "The second parents log in, they can choose their preferred language," she said, and notifications will speed pre‑enrollment meetings and course placements.
The district has scheduled multiple test runs and training for building secretaries; administrators aim to open PowerSchool registration for new students on May 1 after a March test run and April staff training. Kindergarten registration is still being processed in the existing Gateway system while the migration proceeds.
Administrators said the change should streamline August enrollment rushes and provide parents more direct access to student information via PowerSchool parent accounts.
