The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners on March 24 approved multiple personnel and appointment items.
Appointments: The board appointed Lisa Graham and Elizabeth Flaherty to serve on the Northwest Colorado Regional Opioid Abatement Council. A commissioner moved for the appointments and the motion carried by voice vote.
Housing authority interim director: Rachel Bauer, Human Resources director, asked the board to appoint Angela Luna as interim housing director while the current director is on leave and to authorize filling Luna’s current position temporarily. Bauer said the interim assignment is estimated up to six months and that the Moffat County Housing Authority board must also approve the appointment at its 11 a.m. meeting. The board approved Resolution 2026-41 appointing Luna as interim director and agreed to the temporary pay adjustment proposal.
Veteran Service Officer hire authorization: Bauer also reported the veteran service officer position had been vacant since fall 2025 and recommended beginning negotiations with candidate Brian Poole, who was described as highly recommended by the community. The board authorized the HR director to offer employment to Brian Poole contingent on successful pre-employment screening, including a background check.
