Mayfield Heights City Council voted on March 23 to authorize several purchase agreements and emergency work needed to keep city services running.
The council adopted Resolution 2026‑16 authorizing renewal of the city’s Microsoft 365 licensing and related agreement, which the law director said is required “to continue its operations.” Resolution 2026‑17 approved the purchase of a dump body and accessories for the service department not to exceed $83,355, and Resolution 2026‑18 authorized purchase of a Freightliner 108 SD cab and chassis not to exceed $132,368. The council also adopted Resolution 2026‑19 to contract with Monarch Construction Inc. for repair of a partial roof collapse in the building department, not to exceed $63,105; Building Department representative Mr. Thomas said contractors were ready to start and asked for council support.

On the Microsoft renewal, Mr. LaGrasso summarized the need: “the city needs to renew its Microsoft 365 licensing to continue its operations.” Recorded affirmative votes for the listed motions are in the council roll calls captured in the record.

Why it matters The votes authorize immediate purchases and repairs that the service and building departments identified as needed, including an emergency roof repair for the building department and vehicle body and chassis purchases for the service fleet. The Microsoft licensing renewal is procedural but necessary for city IT and email services. Ordinances adopted include administrative and fee adjustments that will alter departmental codes and a lockbox fee increase that affects residents who request that fire responders access homes via a key box.
What’s next Ordinance 2026‑06 on sidewalk duty will proceed through additional readings and public input. The rezoning petition for the Parkland Townhomes will be reviewed by the Planning Commission following referral. The council indicated related budget adjustments for April to reflect insurance reimbursements and the newly awarded NOPEC grant.
