Council President Gahartstein told members that he received a letter from Pat McGra, chairman of the Planning Commission, concerning suggested edits to Chapter 1341 (the city’s zoning ordinance). He asked the Legislation & Welfare Committee to call a meeting so members can review the updated draft.
Councilman W. moved to schedule a Legislation & Welfare Committee meeting for Monday, March 16 at 7 p.m. in council chambers to discuss Chapter 1341; the council president said a committee-of-the-whole meeting would follow to address the stormwater management ordinance while the environmental commission sorts out interim leadership.
During the legislative portion of the agenda council read a slate of ordinances for second reading: Ordinance No. 2026-05 (appropriations for current expenses and expenditures for 2026), and Ordinances 2026-06 through 2026-11 addressing compensation and employment provisions for appointed officials, salaried and hourly employees, part-time dispatchers, part-time firefighters, and special police officers. These ordinances were listed for second reading; council did not take final votes on them during the March 9 meeting.
The council also read Resolution 2026-02 (first reading), authorizing the mayor to contract with Medicount Management Inc. for ambulance recovery fee services; that resolution remains at first reading and will return for later consideration.
Next steps: committees will meet to review Chapter 1341 and stormwater language; the listed ordinances remain at second reading pending future action.
