At the March 12 board meeting, administrative assistant Lucy Sers outlined the village’s vehicle‑sticker compliance effort for the 2025–26 season, detailing sales and enforcement steps.
"2,640 vehicle stickers have been purchased in the village," Sers reported, and the total revenue collected for the season without late fees was $171,386; late fees collected totaled $6,468.84. The village used Illinois Secretary of State registration data to compare plates to the village database and identified 692 vehicles that did not appear to have a current sticker on file. Staff mailed letters to those owners during the third week of February asking them to purchase a sticker or update their registration information by Monday, March 16 to avoid a citation.
The letter campaign led to 91 sticker sales by 4 p.m. on March 12. According to Sers, many of the mailed notices resulted from outdated or inaccurate records and did not require a sticker once corrected. "From that paired down list, letters were sent to the 692 owners ... The letter has resulted in 91 stickers being sold since the letter went out as of 4:00 today," she said.
Sers told the board that anyone from the original list who has not either purchased a sticker, contacted village hall to update records, or provided documentation that they filed an address update with the Secretary of State by March 16 will be mailed a police citation for $65 in addition to the sticker cost and late penalty. The village will allow recipients to contest or seek reversal of citations and may permit appeal hearings with the village adjudication judge. Staff said the village will request the state registration report roughly every six months going forward to keep records current.
The board asked clarifying questions about online payment options and thanked Sers and front-desk staff for coordinating the notification and payment processes. Staff noted the current stickers expire June 30, 2026, and sales for the next season will begin May 1.
