Energy Saver NC presenters offer up to $16,000 in home upgrades to Northampton residents

"Qualified residents may receive up to $16,000 through the homes program and up to $14,000 through the HERe program depending on eligibility and household needs," said Jasmine Carter, the center's education manager. Carter and operations manager Christy Gibson described upgrades funded through the program — new HVAC systems, electric ranges, refrigerators, washers and dryers, duct repairs, water‑heater replacements, air sealing and insulation — and said the center is partnering with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) to help residents apply.
In response to commissioner questions, presenters said applicants typically need a personal email, the last 12 months of utility bills and proof of household income for all adults 18 and older; for full program funding applicants generally must be at or below about 150% of area median income. The presenters offered to work with town leaders, senior groups and county locations such as wellness centers to hold application sessions on site.
What happens next
Commissioners expressed support and asked staff to help identify suitable town venues and times for outreach clinics so residents can apply in person.
