Hickory City Council approves minutes, ratifications and consent agenda in brief meeting

The Hickory City Council met on March 17 and unanimously approved routine business including the minutes from its March 3, 2026 meeting, a reaffirmation/ratification on second readings and the entire consent agenda.
Councilmembers made the approving motions and voice-voted the items through without recorded opposition. The council had no public hearings on the agenda and made no appointments to boards or commissions at the meeting.
Mayor Guest used the meeting to note that March 17 marks the 113th anniversary of Hickory’s adoption of the council-manager form of government. The council also recognized recipients of the Elks Lodge Americanism awards — Fire Captain Steven Romano, crew leader Mckenley Cheryl and Master Police Officer Austin Steel — and a councilmember expressed condolences and thanks to the Hickory Police Department following a recent homicide in the city.
A councilmember moved to adjourn, the motion was seconded, and the meeting was closed by voice vote.
