At its March meeting the Green Local Schools Board of Education recognized students from the district’s primary, elementary, middle and high schools as Students of the Month and presented a "Spotlight on Staff" featuring three staff members nominated by peers.
Mr. Miller introduced Bryce Strayer as the March student of the month at Green Primary School. The board quoted Bryce’s teacher, Miss Yauch: "In the classroom, he is a shining example of what it means to be focused and dedicated," the statement said, noting Bryce’s kindness and eagerness to learn.
Mrs. Seals presented Green Elementary students of the month Crosby Flynn and Jude Alwinger. Crosby’s teachers highlighted his leadership and classroom work; Jude’s profile noted that he is a three‑year cancer survivor and was praised for his responsibility and perseverance.
Mr. Elliott introduced Leven Blair as the Green Middle School March student of the month, describing her as a punctual, collaborative student with leadership qualities who plans to pursue a career in speech pathology. Mrs. Brown introduced high‑school seniors of the month, including Max Sitko and Noor Awadallah, and summarized their college plans, athletics and extracurricular involvement.
The board also recognized staff members Jeanette McMasters, April Mashburn and Melissa Buck for peer‑nominated service that supports students and staff. McMasters was noted for her leadership in intervention and the Sunshine Committee; Mashburn for supporting vulnerable students in a cross‑categorical unit; and Buck for nearly a decade of service in the district food service program and her work after recovery from a stroke.
Board members applauded the student and staff accomplishments and promoted upcoming community events — including a seniors‑serving‑seniors dinner and the district art show. The recognitions concluded before the meeting’s routine business items began.
