Bags for Life fundraiser tops $120,000 this year; trustees praise volunteers

He said that figure will bring the fundraiser’s 10-year total to roughly $500,000 in distributions to local charities. "It's amazing what happened... This ain't mine. This is ours," Trustee McCarthy said, praising volunteers, businesses and residents who donated prizes and time.
Trustees and the mayor congratulated the citizen-of-the-year winners announced recently and encouraged residents to participate in community drives: a blood drive on March 21 (walk-ins permitted), emissions testing scheduled April 13–17 in the town center (10 a.m.–4 p.m.), and yard-waste collection beginning the first full week of April with free leaf collection during that period. The clerk reminded residents that primary election polls are open 6 a.m.–7 p.m. the following day.
Trustees said the money raised supports local organizations including Violet’s Kitchen, the Park District foundations, Breakfast with Babies, the Dominic Savino Foundation and DuPage Animal Friends. Several trustees thanked those who planned and staffed the events and urged continued community support.
