North Little Rock board swears in new trustee and honors longtime members

Crystal C. Parker was sworn in March 31 as the newest member of the North Little Rock School District Board of Education, repeating the statutory oath to support the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Arkansas and to follow ethics rules referenced in ACA 624101.
Superintendent Greg Palooi presided over the short ceremony and introduced Pulaski County circuit and county clerk Miss Hollinssworth, who administered the oath. "You are duly sworn in," the clerk said after the oath.
The board also formally recognized outgoing members for their service. Dorothy Williams, who described more than five decades of involvement with the district, thanked alumni and district leaders and urged trustees to "read" policy and "pour in" to the schools. Angela Pson West offered public remarks of appreciation and encouraged new and current board members to stay involved in their schools.
District officials framed the recognitions as part of a broader shift in leadership. Palooi asked new members to engage immediately with the district agenda and noted that the board would soon consider several policy and operational items, from library policy updates to planned capital projects.
The board moved next into its regular agenda after remarks and a reception period. The session included student presentations and multiple school performance updates later in the meeting.
