The council’s decision followed a presentation by Community Development Director Rachel Diamond and designers from RRM Design Group. Debbie Rudd of RRM described the revised approach as rooted in Ventura’s coastline: "The updated vision plan is inspired by the natural waveforms of the coastline," she said, highlighting a simplified set of activity nodes, durable planters and seating, and a series of public plazas and art features intended to draw people along the length of Main Street.
