Residents urge Neshaminy board to scrutinize PennDOT’s RC3 plan over school safety

At a Neshaminy School District board meeting, resident Paul Schneider urged the board to scrutinize PennDOT’s RC3 plan, saying removal of service roads along Route 1 and construction of an interchange with Route 413 could increase traffic through neighborhoods and create hazards for children walking to school.
"Tonight I come as a resident of the Neshaminy school district for 38 years. I'm here to speak about RC3," Schneider said, arguing that PennDOT projections understate likely traffic increases and that local analyses show higher percentage increases on streets such as Gillum Avenue and Jeffrey Lane. He said PennDOT’s own analysis indicates a higher crash likelihood under the proposed configuration and that the community will be left with long-term impacts after construction ends.
Bonnie Miles, another Langhorne Borough resident, reiterated the concerns and asked the board to add the RC3 project to a future agenda so residents can be heard. "I'm inviting the school board to perhaps introduce this as an agenda item so that the word gets out and so residents can be heard," she said.
Schneider invited the board to an April 16 information session at the Soie Post in Langhorne Borough to hear community feedback. The speakers requested clearer PennDOT communication on how the removal of service roads will affect school traffic patterns, pedestrian crossings, and bus stop safety.
The board took no formal action on RC3 during the meeting. Board members did not state a position on the project at the session; residents asked the board to consider the issue formally at a future agenda so district stakeholders can provide input.
