Contractors reported visible progress on Lancaster's new high school during a March 26 update to the Board of Supervisors, with multiple trades on site and finishing work moving forward.
Project managers said 150 to 200 workers are on site on busy days and that many areas have moved from heavy rough-in to finishing work. The auditorium and gym high-work are advancing; lifts will be removed as ceiling and lighting are completed and seating installation and carpeting can begin. Kitchen floors in the main kitchen have been poured and are ready for equipment deliveries. Most major HVAC units and pumps are staged and nearing connection and system startup.
Exterior work continues: storefront glass is largely installed and several canopies are in place; one major front canopy remained to be mounted. The fieldhouse interior and concession areas are nearing completion and contractors reported coordination to deliver final finishes. The construction team said they expect more finish-phase work in April and May.
Separately, the project team and community partners scheduled an Earth Day event on April 22 to plant 250 native trees on the school site; sixth- and seventh-graders will take part in the planting and the campus will be open to the public that day.
Next steps: contractors will continue finish work and equipment installation; staff said a site visit and additional public open opportunities will be scheduled as work allows.
