The Glen County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a rezoning (ZM-26-1) on March 19 to change a 0.183-acre portion of a 47-acre parcel at 3721 Hardy Avenue from general industrial (GI) to single-family residential (R-6).
Planning and Zoning Director Stephanie Leaf explained the parcel is currently split-zoned and that the applicant seeks to consolidate the remnant industrial portion to R-6. She said the planning commission held a public hearing on March 3, 2026 and unanimously recommended approval with a condition that the property comply with R-6 permitted uses within 60 days of board approval. Leaf noted some materials and storage present on the GI portion would not be permitted under R-6 and would need removal after rezoning.
No members of the public spoke for or against the rezoning during the board hearing. Commissioner Booker moved for approval with the 60-day compliance condition; Commissioner Rafalski seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
County staff noted the previously approved alley abandonment adjacent to the property (AB-255) and said deed work remains in process but is not directly related to this rezoning decision. The condition requires the owner to remove uses inconsistent with R-6 zoning within the stated period.
