Lacey Foster presents parks internship recap, begins role in Plano

Lacey Foster, an intern with the Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Department since January, presented a summary of her internship and the internal staff manual she developed for onboarding and procedures.
Foster described hands‑on assignments across facilities: she served as head camp counselor during spring break, helped run senior‑center programs, supported Twin Coves operations and open houses, assisted with the department newsletter and performed benchmarking of sister‑city park ordinances. “It is, like I said, an internal manual. It has key procedures and expectations, and it’s also just a good resource for staff training,” Foster said.
Foster told the board she is completing her degree in recreation, events and sports management at the University of North Texas and will be graduating soon; she also said she has taken a full‑time position as a recreation coordinator with the city of Plano. “I will be walking the stage on Monday,” Foster said.
Board members and staff congratulated Foster and asked what the town and volunteer board could learn from her experience. Foster praised Flower Mound’s community connections and encouraged the board to keep supporting local engagement so new staff and volunteers feel welcomed.
The presentation concluded with brief questions from the chair and board members and remarks of appreciation for Foster’s work and the manual she left as a resource for staff.
