The award amount in the meeting record was transcribed unclearly as "$287,17.79"; staff also estimated gross-receipts tax would add about $33,854 at the current rate and warned the tax rate may change, requiring adjustments during construction. Staff said major tank components have a long lead time and may not be on-site for about three months.
Commissioner Kern asked whether the bond was for the full contract amount or a percentage; staff replied that bonds should cover the full construction amount and that staff would verify the submitted bonds. The motion to approve the contract, pending verification of the bond, passed on a roll call with Commissioners Kern, Trillo and Chairman Tatum voting yes.
Next steps: county staff will verify bond coverage and, if satisfactory, authorize the chairman to sign the contract so Max Drilling may order long-lead equipment.
