Colfax County approves 2026-27 budget adjustments, reallocates funds for fire and program supplies

The Colfax County Commission on a unanimous roll call vote approved Resolution 2026-27 to adopt several budget reclassifications for the 2026–27 fiscal cycle.
Justin (county staff) told commissioners the first adjustment moves $46,412 into maintenance and equipment for the youth park volunteer fire fund. He also described two $10,000 reclassifications between admin/professional services and supplies in program funds and a sheriff's fund reclassification that moves $5,595 from vehicle fuel to professional services and $200 to postage to cover Green Mountain generator maintenance and certified civil-service mail. "That is all the adjustments that we have," Justin said during the presentation.
Commissioners asked whether the fuel account would be left short; Justin replied that 59% of the annual fuel budget remained in the account, and staff confirmed they would prepare an amended draft resolution for signature to capture the late request from the sheriff's office.
The motion to adopt Resolution 2026-27 passed on a roll call with Commissioners Kern, Trillo and Chairman Tatum voting yes. No public comment was offered on the adjustments.
Next steps: staff will finalize the amended draft for signatures and incorporate any final bond or contract verifications referenced elsewhere on the agenda.
