Members of the Farmers Branch Arts & Culture Committee described ongoing outreach to artists and distribution of yard signs as they work to refresh a city artist directory. The committee discussed both digital promotion and printed materials to increase awareness among residents and local businesses.
Staff told the committee that updates to the directory — additions or requests to be removed — should be emailed to Robert and that staff will process those changes on a quarterly schedule. "Email directly to Robert," a staff member said, noting that the work is administratively burdensome and best handled by city staff rather than volunteers.
Committee members suggested a mix of tactics: targeted Parks & Recreation social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor), insertion in the municipal water-bill mailing, paid digital promotion in the 75244/75234 ZIP codes, and in-person outreach at economic development events and school PTA meetings. Members also proposed including a half-sheet or postcard at gallery sites so visitors can easily join the directory.
Staff agreed to produce a flyer for new-business welcome packets and to distribute materials at outreach events; committee volunteers offered to present a short elevator pitch at local economic-development events. The committee set a goal of advancing directory updates and reporting back at the next meeting.
