Sunnybrook superintendent announces retirement; board sets timeline to begin search

One member said the district has internal candidates and that any transition plan would need further discussion; others said the process should be open to external applicants.
Pettis encouraged community input and repeated the district's outreach plans: "Please take my survey...everybody's opinion matters," she said, urging residents to complete the online survey and scan the mailed QR code. Pettis also reminded the audience that state testing began and asked for attention to attendance and student readiness during the testing window.
The board did not take a final vote on a search firm or on a formal timeline at the meeting; members agreed to continue refining the process and to form a committee at the next regular meeting.
