Council hears staff recommendation to renew electric aggregation at a modestly higher rate

The administrator framed the change as an 11-hundredths-of-a-cent increase (about 1%) and provided an example showing a 500 kWh household would pay roughly $0.55 more per month under the new contract.
The renewal, if approved, would begin in June and lock the city into 25 months of supply at the stated rate. Staff noted the consortium represents 15 communities and aggregated buying power covering roughly 495,000 residents and about 1.44 billion kWh annually, which helps secure competitive pricing.
Council did not take a final vote on the aggregation during the meeting; the item was presented for discussion and to allow council questions before the renewal deadline in May.
