The Lakeland District Board of Trustees voted unanimously after executive session to relieve personnel file H.1 of duties effective immediately and to install employee H.2 as interim superintendent for the remainder of the school year.
The Chair moved "to inform employee H.1 that they are relieved of their duties effective immediately and that the remainder of the amounts owed to personnel H.1 for salary and benefits under the current contract will be paid in a single lump sum unless they decide otherwise," adding that "the clerk will coordinate with legal counsel the drafting of a written separation agreement to include the HR director for personnel H.1 and the board's final review, approval, and signature." The motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with Trustees Bain, Broadhead, Thompson, Quimby and Grayson recorded as voting yes.
Immediately afterward the board approved a second motion "to install employee H.2 as interim superintendent for the remaining of the school year." That motion also passed on a roll-call vote with the same five trustees recorded as voting yes.
The board did not provide additional public details about H.1's personnel file during the open meeting; the motions instruct staff and legal counsel to prepare a written separation agreement and to coordinate with the HR director. The board announced the actions as part of its return from executive session at 9:07 p.m. and adjourned at 9:37 p.m.
