The Glenview CCSD 34 Board of Education on a series of consent votes moved to adjust transportation contracts, formalize a treasurer appointment, add staff capacity for next school year and tweak the district calendar.
District administration told the board that special-education transportation contracts expire June 30 and that bids returned under the recent procurement were difficult to compare because vendors provided inconsistent information and vehicle types. The administration recommended rejecting all special-education bids as submitted; the board approved that recommendation on a roll-call vote under agenda item 26-010.
The board also rejected a proposed one-year extension with Safeway Transportation, citing concerns about the company’s uncertain financial position, and approved a one-year extension with First Student with a 3% rate increase; First Student will assume Safeway routes for the coming year. Administration said the district plans to rebid transportation in early fall.
The board approved resolution 26-013 formally appointing Michael (name as recorded in the transcript) as school treasurer; administration said his treasurer’s bond is already in place. The measure passed by roll call.
On staffing, the board approved the district’s recommended 2026–27 staffing allocations. Administration said the certified side will increase by 1.5 full-time-equivalent positions — 1.0 to meet English-learners/ML needs for dually identified students and 0.5 for scheduling support — and the business services area will add 1.0 FTE tied to audit and best-practice recommendations.
The board also approved personnel and calendar items: a procedural non-renewal of a final-year probationary teacher at Springman Middle School because of enrollment uncertainty, and calendar adjustments that add one teacher workday at year-end (no change to student attendance days) and move a professional-development day from Oct. 30 to Sept. 11 in the 2026–27 calendar.
Votes at a glance: 26-010 (reject special-education bids) — motion carried; 26-011 (reject Safeway 1-year extension) — motion carried; 26-012 (approve First Student 1-year extension, 3% increase) — motion carried; 26-013 (appoint treasurer) — motion carried; 26-015 (staffing allocations) — motion carried; 26-016 (non-renewal of probationary teacher) — motion carried; 26017/26018 (calendar updates) — motions carried.
Board members conducted roll-call votes for each consent item during the meeting; the clerk recorded each motion and noted the motion carried.
The meeting then moved to routine reports before adjourning.
