The Ross Local School District board approved a block package of seven items that included two permanent-improvement projects, classroom flooring repairs and a resolution accepting the amounts and rates set by the Butler County Budget Commission.
Administration described the two PI projects as (1) an HBAC project at the middle school to repair a branch box and (2) classroom flooring repairs at Elda to address moisture issues. When trustees asked which rooms at Elda would be repaired, the district identified rooms 309 and 311 in the back hallway. Trustees discussed whether a vapor barrier issue existed; staff said much of the concern involved HVAC and moisture buildup rather than moisture coming up through the slab, and contractor responsibility was still being clarified.
The resolution accepting the amounts and rates as set by the Butler County Budget Commission was presented as a routine follow-up to the district’s January tax budget submission and was included in the block vote. Finance committee members also reported discussing moving some general-fund cash into short-term investments to capture current interest rates, with the option to access funds within roughly a month if needed.
The board moved, seconded and approved the block package; roll-call votes were recorded as affirmative for all five trustees in attendance.
