The Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 Board of Education was told April 1 that the district will migrate its finance and human-resources operations to Skyward and shift employees to a biweekly pay schedule starting this fall.
Superintendent Eric Reed said district teams have worked for more than two years on the operating-systems transition and that payroll will run concurrently in the existing system and Skyward during the cutover to identify and correct any programming issues before fully switching over. "Payroll this month will be running concurrently with our existing system as well as Skyward," Reed said, adding that the district has planned for training and error correction during the parallel run.
Reed told the board the change will mean more timely pay for new hires and a more even distribution of deductions: "Starting in the fall we'll be able to move forward with bi-weekly pay for all of our employees," he said, clarifying that biweekly will mean "every other week," not twice a week, and that benefits deductions will be spread evenly rather than concentrated in a single check.
District staff leading the project — which Reed said has involved business operations and human resources — will communicate details and timelines to employees ahead of the switch. Board members praised the preparation work; one member noted board packets and some report formats will look slightly different after the Skyward conversion.
The board had no substantive questions at the time and continued to other agenda items. Officials also flagged that the payroll change is being coordinated alongside other operational priorities such as negotiations that begin in the coming weeks.
