The Gateway School District board approved its portion of several administrative resolutions Monday, including acceptance of the 2026–27 AIU (Intermediate Unit) program of services budget and the district's receipt of the 2024–25 audited financial statements.
Administration presented the AIU program budget of $2,431,488 and said Gateway’s estimated contribution is $64,614. The board voted to approve the item by roll call after a brief presentation and questions about timing and budget impacts.
The board also accepted an anonymous $150 donation earmarked for autistic support and life-skills students and approved a facilities request for the Marauville Chamber of Commerce event scheduled for Nov. 19, 2026.
On facilities, the board reviewed a letter of intent between Gateway School District and Pennsylvania Roofing Systems for repairs and roof replacement at Dr. Cleveland Stewart Junior Elementary School. The updated documentation attached to the letter lists the value at $1,490,000; administrators said the work is intended to be performed over the summer to take advantage of a narrow construction window and to allow ordering of materials now while the district completes budget approvals.
Administrators cautioned that the district has applied for a competitive grant tied to roofing projects and that grant funding is not guaranteed; the district has reserved some funds in current budgets to allow early procurement and will reconcile payments as audits and grant awards are finalized.
The board pulled Item 8.2 (nomination of regional trustees) for separate consideration; members discussed candidate resumes and indicated a preference for the nominee described as having business experience before voting on that item.
The meeting closed today’s administrative business with routine roll-call votes approving the packaged items after discussion.
