Board approves ES&S election-machine purchase, chair authorized to sign

Auditor Maryanne Hanusa told the board the county's current machines are 13 years old and an RFP was issued to the three state-approved vendors; only ES&S responded. The bid covers new machines, updated software and ongoing support; the vendor is locally based in Omaha, Nebraska, which the auditor said would aid responsiveness on election days.
Supervisors voted to authorize the chair to execute the agreement. Funding for the purchase will come from ARPA funds (approximately $375,000) with the remainder from county cash/general supplemental funds, subject to final budget accounting.
Next steps: county staff will finalize the contract and schedule implementation and testing ahead of upcoming elections.
