Carbondale arts commission endorses Flag Day pop-up and recommends placements for June art walk

The Carbondale Public Arts Commission unanimously endorsed a temporary Flag Day installation proposed by Age Friendly Carbondale and recommended site placements for the town's June art walk during its regular meeting.

Nikki, a representative of Age Friendly Carbondale, told the commission the concept would pair American flags with smaller flags representing places where residents say they come from, and would be displayed for about a week around Flag Day (the week of June 14) along the Rio Grand Trail behind the youth art park. "We are one nation under the United States flag, but we all are immigrants in some way," Nikki said, explaining the project's intent to show community unity.
