Board approves retirement benefits agreement for Michael Rinella, end‑of‑year calendar and capital outlay seeker; moves to executive session

The Marion Central School District Board of Education approved several formal actions during the meeting.
First, by motion and voice vote the board approved a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between Marion and the MTA addressing retirement service benefits for Michael Rinella, then approved Mr. Rinella’s retirement. Board members congratulated Mr. Rinella on 34 years in education, including 20 years in Marion, and he received a round of applause and handshakes after the vote.
The board then approved the district calendar for 2025–26, setting the last student day as Monday, June 22, and the final staff day as June 26. The calendar motion passed by voice vote.
On capital planning, the board approved a required Type II SEQRA filing (a capital outlay seeker) for the high school to address floor work and classroom renovation in specified rooms; the motion passed. The board also approved the remaining consent agenda items after removing one item earlier in the meeting.
Finally the board voted to move into executive session to discuss the dismissal or removal of a particular person and pending litigation. The board did not return to complete the public workshop during the open session; a closed session was held.
