Mark Metzger, representing the concrete contractor, told the board his company would replace an existing driveway approach at 506 South 5th Street. Brad Munich of the Goshen Engineering Department told the board the typical driveway approach limit is 24 feet, the existing approach is wider (about 36 feet at its widest point where it meets the alley), and staff recommended approval because the project replaces the existing condition in kind.
A board member moved to approve the requested variance to allow replacement of the wider approach. The motion passed unanimously.
Engineering staff said remaining permit particulars will be handled through the normal permit review process and flagged concerns about approach depth when openings exceed the standard width.
