Nursing home renovation near complete; reopening possible in July, county told

The McLean County Board Health Committee heard an update May 5 from a nursing home representative that the facility’s construction project is in its final phase and could reopen as soon as July, pending inspection by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
“Of course, if things go as we hope, we could be reopening in July,” said Mr. Wiley, the nursing home representative. He said the project likely has “3 to 4 weeks left of work” followed by a roughly 45‑day window when IDPH may inspect and grant re‑occupancy.
Wiley noted a March spike in expenses in the facility’s financial report: “Every March, we pay a full year's premium for liability insurance. So that always shows a spike in the expenses in the month of March.” He explained that accounting timing—not new operating deficits—accounted for the one-month rise in expenses shown in the committee materials.
When a committee member asked about the original predicted completion date, Wiley said from memory the timeline pointed to July and that the project was running about three to four weeks ahead of the original construction company estimate.
Wiley thanked the jail and the City of Bloomington for assistance during the renovation; no further action items or votes were recorded on the nursing home report.
The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 4:00 p.m., when any additional updates could be placed on the agenda.
