The Whitko Community School Corp. board approved several administrative items during the meeting, including the first reading of Indiana School Board Association (ISBA) policy books 5000 and 6000 and the second-and-final approval of book 4000.
Trustees also voted to establish a Venmo account to accept electronic donations and payments; trustees asked about processing fees during discussion and were told Venmo would not withdraw funds directly from Whitko to process payments.
The board approved field trips listed in agenda item 7.3 without discussion and accepted a series of routine business reports, including minutes, accounts payable and payroll claims, financial reports, and extracurricular activity lists. The consent agenda included two added employment actions (Natalie Wheeler as assistant to the principals/attendance secretary and Bailey Wolfe as junior high track coach), which were added to the consent agenda and approved.
Donations recorded during the meeting included several cash contributions to the Boomerang Backpack program ($150, $200 and $600), an optical comparator valued at $4,000 from Paragon Medical for Whitko Junior-Senior High School math instruction, and two $5,000 grants from United Way of Kosciusko and Whitley County for Pierceton Elementary’s purposeful play initiative and for Whitko Junior-Senior High School programming.
The board set the second and final reading for ISBA books 5000 and 6000 for April 20, 2026, and adjourned following an announcement about an executive session to follow the public meeting.
