The Foster City Parks & Recreation Committee approved its year‑end committee report and a set of edited goals for 2026, then held nominations and confirmed officers for chair, vice chair and secretary.
Committee members reviewed the draft year‑end report that will go to the City Council and discussed edits to the goals and focus areas. Staff read back proposed changes: replace the parenthetical phrasing on the recreation center to "recreation center rebuild project — transition to new facility," change "levee trail signage and safety" to simply "levee trail safety," and spell out "JUA" as "joint use agreement."
After discussion about keeping goals broad while making operational "hows" measurable, a member moved to approve the year‑end report and the revised goals. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote; multiple committee members responded "Aye." Transcript speakers voiced assent and staff said they would incorporate the edits in the final document for Council.
The committee then conducted elections for its three officer positions. Members nominated candidates, nominees accepted and the committee confirmed the slate by voice affirmation: Lisa was nominated for and confirmed as vice chair; a committee member was confirmed as secretary; the chair nomination was accepted and the committee congratulated the new officers.
Staff said the year‑end report will be scheduled for presentation to the City Council in the next available council slot and that staff will circulate a revised draft with the edits discussed. Members volunteered for monthly "committee member reports" and suggested topics for the 2026 work plan, including sidewalk vending, goose‑management updates, sustainability, communications and recreation tourism.
The meeting continued with director’s report items and safety follow‑ups before moving toward adjournment.
