Enumclaw council approves sewer assessment reimbursement area for Roosevelt Avenue roundabout

The Enumclaw City Council on April 27 approved Resolution 18-72 to establish a sewer assessment reimbursement area related to the Roosevelt Avenue roundabout project. City staff said the city constructed a gravity sewer line for the roundabout and will record an agreement that allows the city to recapture installation costs from benefiting parcels.
City staff member Chris Searcy explained the project history and costs to council, noting that the original construction estimate was about $60,000 but unforeseen soil and administrative costs increased the expense. "They just slightly under $88,000 to be recaptured through this agreement on those properties," Searcy said.
The resolution affects four parcels adjacent to the roundabout. The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote; the clerk read the resolution by title and staff said the city recommends approval so the reimbursement document can be recorded against the four parcels.
Next steps: the reimbursement agreement will be recorded against the indicated parcels and staff will handle the administrative steps needed to collect the assessments when properties connect to the sewer.
