Administrators report testing progress, safety-drill results and 4K planning; district explores a 'portrait of a graduate'

Administrators used their reports to summarize several operational items for the Bangor School Board.

Mr. Chaplain and Mr. Luke reported testing is underway: ACCESS testing for English-language learners is complete, the ACT was largely completed by juniors, and Forward assessments and early literacy screeners remain in progress. Mr. Luke said staff are using the JMC student information system to develop the master schedule and that Miss Schultz is supporting scheduling work.

Safety work included a two-part drill: a hold-in-place announced over the intercom followed by a simulated classroom emergency requiring a partner-room relocation exercise and debrief. Administrators said student feedback identified lunchtime and passing-period scenarios as next areas for practice and that leadership will incorporate that feedback.

District leaders discussed planning topics that include whether to move 4K from four days to five days per week; administrators recommended forming a committee and preparing a schedule overhaul rather than rushing implementation without stable state funding. Dr. Brockup also shared a draft "portrait of a graduate" document to align instruction and student experiences with the board's mission, vision and values; staff will review the draft at an upcoming professional-development day.

Administrators highlighted several student events (maple-syrup project, Bangor Got Talent, PBIS assemblies) and acknowledged contributions from community partners and volunteers.
