Fontana public works outlines turf, pool and park upgrades, cites staggered completion dates

"We expect to be completed mid March," Roseberry said of the synthetic turf replacement on Fields 1 and 2 at Ralph M. Lewis. He said work on Fields 5 and 6 is planned for July.
Roseberry listed several other projects: restroom renovations at Bill Martin, Southridge and Oak Park where crews are stripping out old paint and replacing fixtures; pool plastering at Heritage Neighborhood Center that Roseberry said "hasn't been done in over 20 years"; playground wood chips scheduled for May; pavilion and security-light painting at nine locations starting in March; and replacement of rubber surfacing at Sycamore Hills. He also reported that Jesse Turner basketball court contracts are being routed and demolition could begin within the month.
Dan West, public works manager, introduced Roseberry and thanked staff. Roseberry described the Southridge dog park work as nearing completion — "West 1 is 95% complete" and "The East is at 50%" — and said exercise equipment along the PE Trail is "95% complete," with a ribbon-cutting to be scheduled.
Officials said rain has pushed back some field renovation timelines but emphasized the projects are active and being coordinated by in-house crews and contractors. The presentation concluded with an offer from public works to take questions from commissioners.
What happens next: Commissioners thanked public works for the updates and the department will pass details through staff channels for scheduling and public notices. The commission did not take a formal vote on any of the individual capital projects during the meeting.
