Sterling Heights approves industrial development district for Stagg Industrial Holdings

Sterling Heights City Council approved a resolution to establish an Industrial Development District (IDD) for Stagg Industrial Holdings LLC at 42520 and 42600 Merrill Road, clearing a preliminary procedural step that would allow a future applicant to seek an industrial facilities exemption certificate under Michigan’s Public Act 198.
Economic Development Manager Dylan Clark said Stagg has owned 42600 Merrill for nearly 20 years and that the proposed investment for a new industrial facility is estimated at about $12 million. Clark explained that establishing an IDD is step one; any future certificate application would return to council for a separate public hearing with details on jobs and investment numbers.
A Stagg representative addressed the council briefly and said the company is committed to Sterling Heights and long-term ownership. Council moved and unanimously approved the IDD resolution.
