Weber School District honors teachers, nurses and support staff at end‑of‑year ceremony

The Weber School District Board began its May meeting with a celebratory awards program that recognized nurses, teachers, principals and support staff for the 2025–26 year.

Marie Evans (speaker 5), introduced by Jennifer Warren, was honored as Utah School Nurse Administrator of the Year for her district leadership on clinical coordination, safety training and a district telehealth expansion. Evans said the district serves "over 6,000 students that have some type of health impairment, and about 900 of those students require medical interventions during the school day," and described a telehealth pilot she helped expand: "Last year we started with just 6 of our nurses... this year, we expanded to all of the nurses... we were able to help 38 students and staff members receive medical care through telehealth," she said. She also reported standing orders kept "over 650 students in class."

The board also recognized Carrie Breeding as Utah’s Elementary School Principal of the Year for her work at Hooper Elementary; first‑year teachers Kenna Pitcher (elementary) and Jacob Haywood (secondary) were honored for instructional gains and student engagement; Chancey Kelly received the first‑year special education teacher award; and Martha "Miss Marty" Ross was named the district’s educational support professional of the year after more than four decades of service at North Ogden Junior High. The district capped the evening by presenting Marnie Favero as Weber School District Teacher of the Year.

Award presenters and student speakers highlighted classroom results, improved student belonging and reflections on educator impact. The board invited awardees and families forward for photos and closed the ceremonial portion before beginning standard board business.
