The New Glarus School Board voted, by committee motions and individual motions, to approve several operational items including a facilities contract award, multiple student trips and one new hire.
Ron, speaking for the facilities committee, recommended accepting Zeal Construction’s bid for the maintenance garage improvements; the committee motion carried by voice vote, seven to nothing. A dollar amount was read into the record during discussion, but the transcript’s numeric text is unclear; the administration will circulate contract documents and the formal bid amount for the record.
The board also approved a series of student overnight trips. Administration recommended approving the 2027 Washington D.C./New York trip using a vendor previously used by the district; Ron moved and Cassie seconded the motion, which passed 7–0. The annual sixth-grade overnight trip also received board approval (motion by Travis, second by Heather), and the board approved the FCCLA state leadership conference (April 6–8) as an annual overnight event (motion passed 7–0).
On personnel, administration recommended hiring Ava Kraussy as the middle-school track coach; the board approved the hire unanimously. The board recorded no resignations at the meeting.
These approvals were routine, taken largely on committee recommendation or administration request, and will be followed by standard administrative steps (contract paperwork, parent communications and post-trip reporting).
